Its 5-watt SOTDMA transmitter provides higher output power and prioritized access to AIS transmission slots, helping your vessel remain visible in congested ports, commercial harbors, and busy waterways.

The MDA-5 automatically broadcasts essential vessel information, including identity, position, speed, and course. At the same time, its dual receivers decode AIS and DSC messages from surrounding vessels and safety equipment.

Integrated VHF Antenna Splitter

A built-in zero-loss antenna splitter allows the MDA-5 and a compatible VHF radio to share one marine VHF antenna. This eliminates the need to install a second AIS antenna while preserving reliable VHF radio and AIS performance.

SOTDMA Class B/SO Performance

Unlike traditional lower-powered Class B systems, the MDA-5 uses SOTDMA technology with a 5-watt transmitter. This provides improved transmission priority and potentially longer detection range, particularly in areas with high volumes of commercial vessel traffic.

Complete Connectivity

Built-in 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi sends AIS and position data to compatible wireless devices. NMEA 2000 and dual NMEA 0183 ports support integration with chartplotters, multifunction displays, radar systems, and other onboard navigation equipment.

A galvanically isolated USB connection enables safe connection to a Windows or Mac computer for configuration, diagnostics, and compatible navigation software.

GPS and Voyage Data Recording

The integrated 72-channel GPS and GLONASS receiver supplies accurate position information for AIS transmissions. A commercial-grade external GPS antenna is included for installations requiring a clear satellite view.

The automatic Voyage Data Recorder function stores approximately 30 days of navigation information, providing a convenient record of previous vessel movements.
