Improve navigation and visibility on the water with the B&G Vulcan 9 HALO20 Radar Bundle. Designed for cruising and racing sailboats, this package combines an easy-to-use Vulcan 9 multifunction display with the compact B&G HALO20 pulse-compression radar.
The bright 9-inch multi-touch display provides quick access to charts, radar images, routes, waypoints and sailing data. Its sunlight-viewable screen offers excellent visibility on deck, while the integrated 10 Hz GPS receiver delivers fast and accurate vessel-position updates.
Dedicated Sailing Features
The Vulcan 9 includes B&G’s specialized tools for cruising and club racing:
- SailSteer: Combines wind, speed, heading, tide, layline and waypoint data on one display.
- Laylines: Shows predicted tacking and gybing routes directly over the chart.
- SailingTime: Calculates a realistic estimated arrival time while accounting for sailing around the wind.
- RacePanel: Provides race timers, distance and start-line information.
- Autopilot control: Operates a compatible B&G autopilot from the touchscreen.
Compatible wind, speed, depth and heading sensors may be required to use all sailing calculations.
HALO20 Pulse-Compression Radar
The included HALO20 radar offers reliable target detection from a compact 20-inch dome. With a maximum range of 24 nautical miles, it helps identify vessels, land, navigation markers and weather formations during darkness or reduced visibility.
Pulse-compression technology provides clear target separation at short and medium ranges without the lengthy warm-up time associated with traditional pulse radar. HALO20 starts within seconds and wakes immediately from its low-power standby mode.
Preset Harbor, Offshore and Weather modes simplify operation by automatically optimizing the radar for common conditions.
Expandable Marine System
The Vulcan 9 can be integrated with compatible sailing instruments, AIS equipment, sensors, audio systems and B&G autopilots through NMEA 2000.
ForwardScan compatibility allows an optional transducer to provide a real-time view of the seabed ahead of the vessel. Integrated Wi-Fi supports compatible mobile connectivity, display mirroring and software updates.
